Camp Outback
CAMP DESCRIPTION
Elite University Summer Camps is excited to bring the Austin – based Camp Outback to Houston Camp – Midtown! The Elite University Summer Camp’s Camp Outback was designed to provide a week of active, traditional, summer, fun! These activities are typically featured in sleep – away camps but we brought this week of outdoor fun to you! Elite Campers will spend five days engaging in the following activities: Horseback Riding, Rock Wall Climbing, Archery, Hiking, Kayaking, and Swimming. Each day campers will be bussed to a different location to have professional instruction in the activity of the day. Space is limited register today.
Horseback Riding & Archery
Loveland Ranch • 18960 Vick Cemetery Rd, Conroe, TX 77306
Campers will be bussed from the Elite U Steiner Ranch Campus to Loveland Ranch to participate in Horseback Riding and Archery activities. Campers will learn all bout their horses, how they are cared for, and how they are ridden. Children will also be taught about horseback riding safety and taken for a trail ride with Loveland Ranch staff. While some campers are on their trail ride, others will participate in archery and target sports activities with our own archery coach from Texas Archery!
Rock Wall Climbing
Elite U Campers will be bussed to Inspire Rock Climbing Gym for this fun-filled week. Indoor climbing does more than help kids get active in a fun encouraging environment. Climbing also boosts children’s self-esteem, ability to focus, and drive toward accomplishment. Campers will learn the basics of rock climbing which includes: basic technique, movement, and efficiency, climbing grading systems, how to top rope belay, training techniques as well
as injury prevention.
Hiking
Houston Arboretum & Nature Center 4501 Woodway Dr, Houston, TX 77024
Campers will engage in a field experiences led by staff naturalists. and Camper will be introduced to basic ecological concepts. Students are given an overview in the classroom, which is followed by hands-on activities in the 155-acre nature sanctuary. Campers will explore the Arboretum’s ecosystems using their built-in toolbox – their senses! Students will take a nature hike through prairie, woodland, savanna, and wetland habitats. Along the way, make
observations of the interacting communities and finish with time to reflect creatively about their nature experience.
Kayaking
Riva Row Boat House • 2101 Riva Row, The Woodlands, TX 77380
Campers will be bussed from Elite University Summer Camps – Camp Midtown to Riva Row Boat House in The Woodlands for a day of kayaking. Campers will be required to wear lifejackets and supervised by Riva Row & Elite U staff members. All campers under the age of 10 will be required to share a tandem kayak with an adult.
Swimming
Wolfies Swim School • 5230 Cedar St Bellaire, TX 7740160
We are excited to partner with Wolfies Swim School to teach our campers the importance of water safety and swim skills! For young children, it is crucial to learn about safety in the water while still having fun. Wolfies Swim School practices the important safety steps of grabbing the wall and back floating. Each child should be challenged within their comfort zone in order to achieve progress. Once each camper achieves the goals of each level, they are leveled up and begin practicing the next set of goals.
